WoW Druids – Hybrids and Shapeshifters — Games & Entertainment Blog

The most popular hybrid class in the World of Warcraft definitely is the Druid class. A lot of players find this class to be a lot of fun to level up and play. If you choose to play a Druid on the Alliance side your choice of races will be limited on Night Elves while on the Horde side you can only choose the Tauren race.

The Druid class has plenty interesting skills and abilities and their ability to shapeshift is definitely a unique one. Druids have a lot of forms they can shapeshift into like Bear, Cat, Sea Lion and Travel form. When the Burning Crusade was released Druids got the flying form as their flying ability. While all other classes had to wait until level 70 to be able to use their flying mounts, Druids could use their flight form on the level 68!. However, the druids got their flight form, which is an instant cast, on level 68.

Druid can be a really good dps as a caster, healer, tank or a melee dps and therefore his talent tree is divided into three branches – Balance, Feral Combat and Restoration. With the Balance talent build, a Druid will be able to shapeshift into another very fun form – the Moonkin which will allow him to become a typical caster damage dealer.

When shape-shifted into Moonkin he will give his party members +5% on the critical strike rating and therefore all other caster classes will have him in favor. Moonkins are often called “Boomkins” for fun and are typical mana consumers.

He uses a few spells in rotation together with two DoTs to accomplish a really good dps in raids. A Moonkin is not only limited to single target damage spells and he can also deal a lot of AoE damage with spells like Hurricane, Starfall and Typhoon. His gear needs to have a lot of spell power, crit, hit and haste rating and with his dps, a Moonkin can parry any other caster dps in raid. Feral Druids can choose between a tank spec or a melee dps spec.

His bear form will grant him extra armor and HP and he can become a good tank, while in cat form he can be such a strong melee dps that he will fill be on top of the damage meter. With his talent points in the Restoration tree, a druid will get another special form – the tree form. When shapeshifted into a tree a Druid will grant 6% extra healing done to all the targets in his group/raid and his spells will consume less mana. Healing Druids are famous for their HoTs - Healing over Time spells and are favored in raids. Restoration Druids are unique healers and they are especially valued for their HoTs – spells thay have a healing over time effect. His gear needs to have a lot of spirit and spell power and therefore healing druids are known for their ability to regenerate mana very fast.

When it comes to armor a Druid can wear both cloth and leather. If you choose to become a Druid tank or melee dps it is strongly advisable to avoid wearing cloth since armors made from leather always have much better stats. Cloth can be of use to healing druids and Moonkins since they usually don’t take any close damage unlike Druid tanks and melee. A Druid tank needs to wear armor which has a lot of Stamina so he can be deal with the hard hits while tanking.

No matter if you like to play PvE or PvP, you will definitely have a lot of fun with a druid since you can constantly change your build and style of game play. To level up a Druid will be quite easy as well and it is suggested to have a Feral spec for faster leveling. As a Druid you can constantly shape shift, run and swim faster and also dive without any trouble, and what’s more fun – it is all instant!.
