Which Console Is Worth Your Money This Christmas

With Christmas coming ever so closer, many children will be asking their parents for a new games console. But which one deserves your money? The the 3 main consoles, the Playstation 3, XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii all after your sales, which one should you buy?

I'll start with the Xbox 360. After a price reduction, the Xbox 360 now costs £130, making it the cheapest console of the 3 next gens. However, for this £130, you only get an arcade system, which does not come with any games or a hard drive, so, what about console bundles. For the arcade system, you get the console, 3 games and 2 wireless controllers for around £160. As for the premium console, this comes with a 60GB hard drive. You can get a bundle which comes with 3 games and 2 controllers for around £200. And if you want to go the full way and get the Xbox 360 Elite console that comes with a 120GB hard drive aswell as high definition cables included, you can get a bundle with 3 games and 2 wireless controllers for £260.

Overall the Xbox is a great console, with a huge selection of exclusive games. With a huge online community, it's a perfect console for any family.

On to the second console, the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii has to be the best family console, it features a huge range of family fun games to keep your family entertained for hours. The standalone console will cost you around £180, but for a bundle, you can get the console, 2 controllers, 2 nunchucks and 4 games for around £270.

Overall the Nintendo Wii is a good console, it's not like any other console on the market and has a huge range of family fun and single play games for all ages.

The final console on the list is the Playstation 3, which is the most exspensive console aswell. Although the Playstation and Xbox are very similar, the Playstation has one hardware benefit, it features a Blu-ray DVD player. Also, just in a last few days, Sony released their new Playstation Home, a brand new online community for all their Playstation owners.

As for the price, the standard console which has a 40GB hard drive included will cost just under £300. As for a bundle, you can get a Playstation with an 80GB hard drive and 4 games for around £300.

Obviously the Playstation 3 is the most expensive console of the 3, but overall I wouldn't say it's the best of the 3, especially price wise. Although the console is similar to the Xbox 360, the Playstation gets less exclusive content than the Xbox, however, with the Playstation, you get free access to the Playstation Network, whereas you have to pay for Xbox Live.

Finally, I would say that the Xbox 360 is the best console for solo gaming and online gaming and the Nintendo Wii is best for younger aged and family gaming.
