Discovering Mafia Wars Job Mastery

When leveling up rapidly is your primary goal, concentrating on Mafia Wars jobs is an safe, solid strategy.  Fighting and robbing will result in fast leveling also, but then you will have to deal with the consequences which can get extremely personal and a bit ugly.  Jobs won’t result in a group of trigger-happy avengers the way that fighting and robbery can.

Leveling fuel (aka, experience points!) isn’t the only thing jobs yield.  You’ll earn money and loot that will help you strengthen your Mafia Wars profile, too.  Job loot can aid you in equipping your crew.  It may be a weapon, armor, or a vehicle in the loot drop.  The loot drops may include collection items, too.  Think about the money as a way to buy more Mafia Mike’s so that you can afford all that new equipment, and jobs will have set you up perfectly to dominate Mafia Wars.

Don’t forget you’ll earn skill points every time you “master” any job and job tier.  And that’s key if you want to reinforce your profile.  Energy is the category to direct those points if you want to do the maximum number of jobs and level that way.  If leveling isn’t your main goal, spreading those skill points into attack and defense and stamina is another possibility.

All beginners start Mafia Wars in the Street Thug job tier.  Specific tiers are designed for players in specific levels.  At level one through four, Street Thug is the tier.  Boss tier - the top tier in the New York City Mafia Wars venue - is designed for players at level one hundred or higher. The jobs in Street Thug tier are as follows (including job ratio): Mugging (1); Corner Store Hold-Up (1); Warehouse Robbery (1); Auto Theft (1.14); Beat Up Rival Gangster (1); Rob A Pimp (1); Collect On A Loan (1).

When you begin, these are your job choices that match your new character’s abilities.  You can go up to the following tier before you’ve mastered every job in the tier 1x, but you can’t get all the mastery titles. Essentially, your current level and your mastery of the preceding tier determines which tier you can work comfortably.  Tiers are composed of more demanding jobs as you go up the tiers.

Each job in Street Thug tier will need to be mastered by you.  Get in the habit of selecting the best Mafia Wars jobs ratio now by picking Auto Theft!  Prepare to do the Auto Theft job over and over.  You’ll notice a blue bar that shows how you’re doing in mastering the job.  When you’ve mastered Auto Theft, it will be a filled blue bar.  You should get your skill point for mastering  Auto Theft for the first time.

Do the same for all the jobs in the tier and you’ll have mastered the tier for the 1st time.  You get  skill point and a title to put beside your Mafia Wars name.  In this example, you’d earn “Street Thug Don Default.”

Don’t imagine that you’re [finished with those jobs|put all the jobs out of your mind] once you’ve mastered a tier!  Some jobs will give you cherry loot, experience, or cash.  So you’ll want to revisit those jobs even after you’ve leveled up beyond the tier and/or mastered it.  Unless you need the .22 pistol, 9mm, or a Diamond card, Street Thug tier lacks yummy loot, but you take my meaning about doing mastered jobs.

If you make the time to master each job in the tier for a second go round, you’ll get the 2nd cycle of mastery for Street Thug.  Earn yourself a better title – Skilled Street Thug – more skill points, and a 5% increase in loot drops.

Pursue that mastery for the last time and you’ll earn another pile of skill points and the highest title for that tier – “Master Street Thug.”  You’ll also receive ten percent more loot in the Street thug tier.  And the real reward – you get 5% experience bonus for any Street Thug job you do from now on.

Working through 3x through the specific tier mastery also earns you a 1x bonus item.  The bonus item for Street Thug 3x mastery is the Pistol Bayonet; it increases the damage you inflict in a fight by 4%.  Every tier has a different mastery bonus item and they are usually prime items.

Here’s a thought: When you take the trouble to master every job tier 3 times in NY Mafia Wars, you’ll earn two hundred nineteen skill points.  Amazing!
