Sony has always been known for delivering a powerful game console machine. With their new Play Station 3, they haven’t failed gamers’ expectations. However, the major drawback of Play Station 3 is its price. You can actually buy two other game consoles for the price of one Sony Play Station 3.
But Play Station 3 is more than just a video game machine. Sony boasts of the system’s wide range of functions. It can produce 1080p HD movies and visuals using the Blu Ray technology. It even includes TiVo functionality and capabilities. It is also quite the same with how the iTunes system works when it comes to content distribution. Play Station 3 is even branded by some as more of a multimedia device than a gaming console.
Sony actually launched two PS3 package. One costs $ 599 and the other is priced at $ 499. The primary difference is the hard drive capacity. The cheaper one comes with 20 GB while the other has 60 GB. WiFi is also built in into the 60 GB console and an integrated card reader is also included.
However, the basic PS 3 model can be upgraded to match the premium bundle. You could also add an adapter if you want to use a card reader. You probably should just go for the premium PS 3 bundle, as these additions can cost you more than a hundred dollars.
One thing that you need to remember in buying Sony Play Station 3 is to buy HDMI cables. Sony didn’t include these cables in their systems. These cables will cost you around $ 50. The HDMI cables are essential in providing high definition gaming that Sony is trying to provide.
You might also want to include a SIXAXIS controller. This retails for about $ 50. That’s not bad for a controller that has built in motion sensing abilities. You could also buy a Play Station 3 remote for $ 30. This is specially designed to function with Sony Play Station 3’s Blu-Ray functionality. And of course, Sony games cost around $ 60.
If you add up all the costs in getting the ultimate Play Station 3 experience, it really is too much for a video game system. Sony is more focused on providing consumers in providing high end gaming. The high costs of Sony Play Station 3 can be attributed to its multimedia functionality.
So is PlayStation 3 worth buying?
The hype over Sony’s PlayStation 3 sounds like a movie. Imagine people lining up days before it hit the store. Apparently, this console is worth dying for as well.

However, like anything in life, to each his own. Besides, if you are an avid gamer and you have loads of fun with the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 systems, this latest one from Sony is eagerly anticipated.
To compete with Microsoft’s XBox, Sony released PlayStation 3. With its previous game consoles, Sony has been the leader in video games. PlayStations have managed to be the centerpiece of countless living rooms all over America.
PlayStation 3 lifts up the entertainment a notch with these additional features – movie and music playback, browsing family pictures, built in GigaBit that allows internet access, and remote-control operated option.
It can also read any CD loaded into its system – from a burned CD, original DVD movie or Blu-Ray. The console also has a Compact Flash slot where you can display the pictures taken from your digital camera and perused through it on your PlayStation component.
The games promise to be better – from “NBA Live 2007” to “Need for Speed”, the tension from these action-packed games will seep into your living room because of the improved graphics of the PlayStation 3.
Game publishers support the PS3 and they deliver the goods for this console. Title after title have been released – the likes of “Gran Turismo HD” and “Final Fantasy XIII” are eagerly awaited by the gaming fan.
The PS3 will have the same online connectivity as the Xbox. Like connecting to the internet, the player can interact with other people who have PS3 in their homes.
Now, here’s the often-discussed issue: will you shell out $600 for a video game? Nintendo has recently released Nintendo Wii for $250 and it has already surprised the sales of the latest Sony endeavor.
If you have the money to spare and you would like to get yourself a present for the Holidays, you can invest in the PS3. You can buy your console at any video game store. You can also purchase it on amazon.com and bestbuy.com. Compare prices if you can so you can get a good deal.
